DIGITAL BITES

This book is a map for walking on this planet, containing the parallel exhibition "DXP (Digital Transformation Planet): Toward the Next Interface," organized by the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa.

In the introduction, Yuko Hasegawa, director of the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, makes a statement that serves as a clue for taking digital as nourishment. The following chapters contain texts contributed by sociologist Kaoru Endo and curator Hans Ulrich Obrist, which serve as a compass for exploring this new reality.

The next chapter, the main part of the book, explores the current state of "humans" becoming one with the "digital" world through five approaches that cut across disciplines. Experts from a variety of backgrounds will provide "theories," while the curators involved in the planning of the exhibition have written "practices" from their own perspectives through dialogue with the artists, freely referring to works that cannot be seen at the exhibition site. The book, which goes beyond a catalog documenting the exhibition, is structured in a way that only a book can, introducing the practices of art and design, and exploring the changes in "human nature" brought about by digital technology.
